If you only listen to one betting podcast every week make sure it’s this one. With a mix of NFL, football and horse racing experts and professional gamblers discussing the big value betting opportunities of the week and special guests covering an ever-expanding range of sports this is genuinely one of the sharpest betting podcasts around.

Yes, we would say that, but try it for yourself and we’re sure you will agree. Host Emmet Kennedy and Jesse May keep it moving at a good pace and with a lot of humour while insights from pro bettors make sure each episode is absolutely stuffed with sharp betting advice. There is no filler here.

We may be a little biased due to the host being the same Emmet Kennedy as on the Matchbook Betting Podcast, but this is the best horse racing podcast you will find. Funny, accessible and absolutely full to the brim with insight, analysis and betting advice this should be your first port of call if you like to bet on horse racing.

The team are based in Ireland but it covers a full range of UK and Irish racing from presenters who are first and foremost fans of the sport. Their love for the racing game comes over in every episode and it’s always full of top draw chat, analysis and more than its fair share of laughs. Do not miss this one.

A slick podcast from two of the leading figures in the US sports tipping sector, Todd Fuhrman and Payne Insider, that is heavy on the discussion and can be light on the tips (as both sell tips privately) but there is a lot of valuable information in here.

The information is generalist and covers all areas of the sports betting game from the science behind the lines to straightforward game analysis. Easy listening, entertaining and will make you think rather than tell you what to bet on. Probably the most valuable parts are the frequent discussions around the betting lines and how and why they may move.

Against All Odds

Sports: NFL, US Sports
Category: Entertainment

Apple: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/against-all-odds-with-cousin-sal/id1231273478?mt=2

Warning: This is very American and plays up to the image of degenerate betting that comes with the more underground world of sports betting in the US. Hosted by “Cousin Sal”, otherwise known as US comedian Salvatore Iacono, this is not one for the data nerds and focuses more on entertainment than in-depth betting analysis.

That said among the wisecracks and tall tales there is plenty of genuine betting discussion and some advice you can take away with you. But file this one primarily in the entertainment column. Give it a try, you’re either going to love it or hate it.

Racing Post Postcast

Category: Sports Analysis
Listen Here:

Apple: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/racing-post/id884106301?mt=2

The UK’s only betting newspaper puts out a range of regular football and racing podcasts that sit in a similar sweet spot to the paper itself: sports analysis and betting previews. The podcasts utilise the range of expert analysts and commentators at the disposal of the Racing Post well and as you might expect it excels at horse racing analysis with some in-depth discussion around the price of specific horses.

Its football coverage is solid, although not the best out there and tends to be more of a generalist discussion than a detailed betting analysis. One for the shortlist nonetheless.

Degeneration Bets

Sports: NFL, US Sports
Category: Entertainment
Listen Here:
Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/degenerationbets
Apple: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/degeneration-bets/id1142354011?mt=2
This is a podcast that doesn’t take itself too seriously and has more of a youthful feel to it than most betting podcasts out there. It is aimed more at players new to betting and has a heavy Daily Fantasy Sports slant to it. While there is enough serious discussion to help guide your betting this is more entertainment driven than most.

It’s really a discussion of all things sports and betting from the States hosted by two guys who don’t sound like yer da. If you’re new to US sports and want to get a feel for the betting culture there or if you want something a bit different from the “normal” US betting podcasts it’s definitely worth a listen.

Men In Blazers

Apple: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/men-in-blazers/id908407811?mt=2

An odd one this, being a UK-based podcast aimed at American football (or soccer) fans, it nevertheless manages to be one of the more interesting and varied football podcasts around. Knowingly eccentric it plays up to the American idea of Englishness but never pushes it too far and the discussion remains focused on the important matter at hand: football.

If you want a view of the Premier League that isn’t tied to the mainstream UK media narrative and that isn’t afraid to go off on a few tangents then this is the place for you and there is no doubt the sideways look at the EPL will benefit your betting thought processes. It might take a couple of listens to learn the language of the Men in Blazers but it’s worth the effort.

Only balls and horses

One of the newer betting podcasts, but with a stellar cast including ITV Racing presenter Oli Bell, Racing UK’s Tom Stanley and gambling “guru” and ex-head of football trading at Coral Nick Goff. The latter is the fulcrum of the show and expect an over-generous serving of his betting wisdom and west midlands wit in every episode as Bell tries to extract some tips and advice for the week ahead.

Bell and Stanley discuss the week’s big horse race meetings with some detailed analysis of their own and the occasional pearl of wisdom from Goff, but the biggest value from this is undoubtedly the distillation of Goff’s countless hours of football analysis particularly from the lower leagues.

Guardian Football (100k followers)

Max Rushden hosts one of the most listened to football podcasts in the UK, and it’s easy to see why. The podcast features a range of Guardian reporters and occasional special guests and really digs beneath the surface and looks at what’s going on underneath with in-depth analysis of the week’s action and preview of the week ahead.

With this being from the notoriously gambling unfriendly Guardian don’t expect detailed breakdowns of value in the asian handicap markets, but as a general overview of the British football week it’s a solid place to start and is an easy and fun listen.

Bill Simmons

A hugely popular podcast where the emphasis is as much on entertainment as it is information with plenty of laughs, jokes and general wisecracking from the host and his rotating cast of guests.

But among this, there is plenty of detailed betting analysis of the major US sports and it’s rare to not pick up a nugget or two of useful information along the way. Even if you don’t it’s usually a fun ride.

One of Ireland’s most popular podcasts and one of the best around. It’s better than most radio shows, with some very high-profile guests and top-class production. It’s a great mix of chat, humour, interviews and detailed analysis of the big sporting stories.

For an additional fee of around €5 a month you can get an extended range of podcasts including sporting debates and shows recorded in front of a live audience.

Also worth a look…

Sports: Football
Category: Entertainment/Analysis

Another popular football podcast, this time hosted by Football Italia legend James Richardson this is one of the more intelligent football shows out there with a diverse range of guests. Expect a detailed and slightly anoraky analysis of the big games as well as a look at the big news stories and team news from the upcoming action. Despite being sponsored by a bookmaker there is not a lot of pure betting content but there is plenty of analysis to get your teeth into.

The podcasts from the long-running sports betting website focus on comprehensive betting previews for the major NFL games in its House of Yards podcast, which are always worth a listen, but it also covers a wide range of sports through its Sports BIT podcast. Generally there is a good mix of general sporting analysis and betting advice and it rattles along at a good pace.

For a slightly different look at the UK football scene then it’s well worth checking out this podcast from Irish radio station NewsTalk. Freed from the UK narratives it’s often a fresh look at the Premier League and usually contains a number of different perspectives and views on the sometimes beautiful game.

Betting First Look

Sports: US Sports
Category: Betting tips
Listen Here:
Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/marco-dangelo

A podcast from a proper old-school “handicapper”, where the approach tends to be more emotional than analytical. Short, sharp betting advice for the day ahead, with plenty of prompts to subscribe to his “premium” service, but if you can wade through that then there are often some useful betting tips to be found among the self-promotion. Or just skip the first 90 seconds.

Oddschecker podcast

Apple: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/oddschecker-podcast/id1279786855?mt=2

These are a pretty irregular occurrence but are worth seeking out when they do appear. As you’d expect from the Oddschecker team there is a real focus on price and finding the best odds for every bet and the podcasts feature some of their top tipsters and special guests such as Michael Cox. Your best bet here is to subscribe on iTunes and wait for the next batch to appear.

This is a UK take on the NFL and it’s all the better for it. It’s a podcast that understands the late nights, US pilgrimages and all the other factors that make up being an NFL fan from the British Isles. It’s funny, relatable and easy to listen to but don’t expect to come away with reams of betting advice.
