With only two weeks left in the regular season and the playoffs just around the corner you’re running out of chance to get involved in the awesome Matchbook Colossus NFL syndicate. We pick them, you bet them and hopefully by Monday night we’re gunning for huge Pick 7 jackpot.
Colossus syndicates are simple. They are crowdfunded bets where a syndicate leader, in this case Team Matchbook, picks out a slate of bets on the NFL point spread jackpot pool and you can buy a percentage of the total bet amount. If we win you win the same percentage of the jackpot or whatever the bet is cashed out for.
Each week we’ll explain the bets and why we choose them and if you like our thinking then simply buy in and come along for the ride. Redzone will never be the same again.
This week’s picks with Aidan “Sully” O’Sullivan:
Pick 7
Cost: £5 for 2.3% of ticket
Jackpot: £132k+
Falcons @ Panthers – Falcons by 1-12 or Panthers by 1-6
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is carrying an injury but expected to start so I’m happy to oppose them here. The Panthers take on a Falcons team that technically have nothing to play for, but the Falcons looked strong dispatching a poor Cardinals team last week and I expect them to take this one. We’ll take a safety net of Panthers by less than a touchdown though.
Vikings @ Lions – Vikings by 1-18
Detroit are done for the season and this is a must win for the Vikings so it’s hard to see any other result than a Vikings win with the only real question being by how much and we’ll be a little cautious here by covering a few results. The Vikings’ change in offensive coordinator has worked and this looks like a game they should struggle to lose. Let’s hope for no blowout.
Texans @ Eagles – Texans by 1-6 or Eagles by 1-12
A very tricky one to call here and while we’re slightly leaning towards the Eagles who are trying to recapture some of the old form from last year. The Texans have impressed in the last few weeks, but you sense there might be more urgency around the Eagles and they should edge this, but we will cover a Texans win too in what could be a close contest.
Bills @ Patriots – Patriots by 13-24
A blow out for the Patriots looks like the call here with a wounded Patriots team at home likely to take out their anger on a poor looking Bills outfit. The Bills are not as bad as some may make out, but they are very limited and they struggle on the road and the Patriots angry from their defeat in Pittsburgh will be ready to take it out on the Bills here.
Steelers @ Saints – Saints by 13-24
I like the Saints at home not least against a poor looking Steelers side, which was flattered a little by their win over the Patriots last week .The Saints are one of the favourites for the Super Bowl and are averaging 10 more points at home than they do on the road. They’ve ground out a few wins in the last few weeks but they are capable of coming alive here in what looks like a big coaching mismatch. I’m backing a Saints win by two touchdowns.
Chiefs @ Seahawks – Chiefs by 7-12
What a way to start Christmas with what looks set to be another cracker of a match. I think the Chiefs win without blowing out the Seahawks and should be capable of bouncing back from last week. They are fundamentally a better side than the Seahawks, and crucially the Chiefs are really strong on the road this year so that should counteract the Seattle home advantage, and they should be able to win by a touchdown.
Broncos @ Raiders – Raiders by 7-12
What a terrible to start Xmas Day with a game featuring two of the worst teams in the NFL with nothing to play for. The Raiders are playing their last home game of the season and they should be the least worst in this one and we will take a chance on them winning by one touchdown to hopefully finish off a good week for the syndicate and a very happy Xmas to us all.
