Doncaster St Leger Festival - Thursday's Best Bets

Tom Stanley breaks down what he and our Podcast team are backing for Thursday’s features from Doncaster.

Big week ahead culminating in a monster Saturday with the Cazoo St Leger and the start of Irish Champions Weekend. Look out for our pod Thursday at 18:30 to tackle all of that.

Hopefully, there will be some success in the run-up, with Thursday and Friday’s ITV action from Doncaster previewed below.

2yo Stakes (14:10 Doncaster)

A tough start with this big-field 2yo race, and no surprise, four different selections going up. Sam is with Ever Given, and I’m on a horse who finished behind him last time.

The biggest price of the lot is Steve’s Claim The Stars, while Adele thinks Jazz Club still has a good bit more to offer.

  • Tom – Symphony Perfect
  • Adele – Jazz Club
  • Steve – Claim The Stars
  • Sam – Ever Given

May Hill (14:40 Doncaster)

Nobody is exactly keen to take on the favourite, but Sam points out that if the showers arrive, perhaps she’ll be more vulnerable than her odds suggest, and Kawida won’t mind those conditions. I’ll have a bit on Prosperous Voyage in the w/o the favourite market.

  • Tom – Prosperous Voyage w/o fav
  • Adele – Inspiral
  • Steve – No bet
  • Sam – Kawida (small win and place if showers arrive)

Bet Now

Park Hill (15:15 Doncaster)

Too trappy for me, but Adele is keen enough on Yesyes, and that’s her best bet of the day. Both Sam and Steve are struggling to see the favourite beat.

  • Tom – No bet
  • Adele – Yesyes
  • Steve – Free Wind
  • Sam – Free Wind

Cazoo Handicap (15:45 Doncaster)

Nearly a team sweep on Motawaajed, who impressed the panel with that course win last time. The consensus is there’s too much between him and Modern News in the betting, but I’m siding with the Appleby horse who still looks well ahead of his mark.

  • Tom – Modern News
  • Adele – Motawaajed
  • Steve – Motawaajed
  • Sam – Motawaajed
