Tom Stanley is here to guide you through an ITV Saturday where we alternate between the Flat and the jumps.
Eight races from three tracks across both codes this weekend and it’s decent stuff between the Kempton jumps and Lingfield flat. The Coral Trophy and Newcastle’s Eider certainly make for some interesting betting heats too.
As ever, find the winner of one of those and you’re generally up on the day.
2m4f Handicap Chase (13:15 Kempton)
Too tricky for me with some last time out winners and the dropping in grade Deyrann De Carjac. He was my starting point and he’s the horse Deasy fancies off a fair mark now. Natalie is with Patroclus who won in similar conditions at Leicester last time.
- Tom – No bet
- Natalie – Patroclus
- Deasy – Deyrann De Carjac
5f Hever Sprint Stakes (13:30 Lingfield)
Good renewal and I’m with last year’s winner, mainly as I feel he should be clear favourite and he isn’t at the time of recording. Tone The Barone likes it here too and he is Natalie’s selection. She also gives a strong mention to Deasy’s fancy who could have this set up to suit his patient style.
- Tom – Lord Riddiford
- Natalie – Tone The Barone – also like/hate Mondamej
- Deasy – Mondamej
Adonis Juvenile Hurdle (13:50 Kempton)
Just a view from Natalie and I and it’s for Knight Salute. If this horse was trained by Paul Nicholls he’d be far shorter. Milton Harris is enjoying his best ever season though and excelling with young horses and Knight Salute should be tough to beat.
- Tom – Knight Salute
- Natalie – Knight Salute
- Deasy – Back whichever horse gets punted
1m2f Winter Derby Stakes (14:05 Lingfield)
All votes for Lord North who we make a backable price at 1.91 at the time of recording. He should be too good albeit he’s off a big absence here. He’ll not be 100% but should still be fit enough to dispatch this field and he’s 1 from 1 on a synthetic surface.
- Tom – Lord North
- Natalie –Lord North
- Deasy – Lord North

Pendil Novices’ Chase (14:25 Kempton)
Three different shouts but none for the favourite. I’m with Millers Bank who looks underestimated for all he’s unseated on his last two runs. Natalie is a big fan of Minella Drama whilst Deasy makes a strong case for Fantastic Lady who is a mare in form.
- Tom – Millers Bank
- Natalie – Minella Drama
- Deasy – Fantastic Lady
Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle (15:00 Kempton)
Both Natalie and I are of the opinion that the Gary Moore horse should be too good. He certainly looked it last time. Deasy would rather take the 11.0 about Moriko De Vassy who is unbeaten on completed starts.
- Tom – Shallwehaveonemore
- Natalie – Shallwehaveonemore
- Deasy – Moriko De Vassy (win/place)
Vertem Eider Handicap Chase (15:15 Newcastle)
Just two horses going up here. Achille first of all who looks backable off this mark and on the form of his Chepstow run. He didn’t get into it last time but is worth another go. The other is Court Master who won at the track last time and is given the nod to see out the extra distance.
- Tom – Achille
- Natalie – Court Master & Achille (win/place)
- Deasy – Court Master (win/place)
3m Handicap Chase (15:37 Kempton)
Tough race with so many horses that a case can be made for. My best bet of the day is The Big Breakaway at 9.0 at the time of recording who has had this as his target for a while. Natalie likes the shortest of the Christian Williams horses who won well over course and distance two starts back. Deasy is with the biggest price of the Williams horses and outsider of the field Kitty’s Light.
- Tom – The Big Breakaway
- Natalie – Fivestargetaway
- Deasy – Kitty’s Light (win/place)
Best Lays
- Tom – Lay Pic D’Orhy at 2.5 or less (currently 3.0)
- Natalie – No lay
- Deasy – No lay
Best Bets
- Tom – The Big Breakaway (15:37 Kempton)
- Natalie – Minella Drama (14:25 Kempton)
- Deasy – Court Master (15:15 Newcastle)
Best of luck!
