ENTERTAINMENT EXPECTED AT EINTRACHT
Eintracht Frankfurt’s outstanding campaign continued with an enthralling 3-2 success over last season’s runners-up Stuttgart before the international break. Die Adler are now just a point off second in the Bundesliga standings, enjoying a four-game winning streak across all competitions – Dino Toppmller’s side have been one of Europe’s great entertainers thus far.
Led by Egyptian hitman Omar Marmoush – the Bundesliga’s joint-top goalscorer with 11 – Frankfurt’s fluidity in front of goal has been hugely impressive with 13 different players contributing across all competitions. In the Bundesliga, Eintracht are averaging 2.60 goals, striking twice or more in 7/10 and notching at least three teams in five of those fixtures.
At Deutsche Bank Park, Die Adler have plundered 15 goals in just four fixtures, including three against Bayer Munich. The issue is defensively, where Toppmller’s team have managed a solitary shutout across their Bundesliga exploits with six of their opposition netting multiple goals against the high-flyers.
That should encourage mid-table Werder Bremen. The visitors have fired only three blanks thus far, hitting 2+ goals in six of their 11 league showdowns and are well-accustomed to high-scoring shootouts. Die Werderaner have scored 17 goals yet conceded 21, keeping only one clean sheet with their five away days returning 2-2, 2-1, 4-3, 4-2 and 1-4 scorelines.
The obvious play therefore is to support Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams To Score at 1.80 – it’s a selection that’s paid-out in 14 of the duos combined 20 league encounters, a 70% success rate. During those 20 tussles, 11 have featured Over 3.5 Goals with eight even covering the Over 4.5 Goals line, suggesting we should be in for a Saturday night cracker.

ARGYLE APPEAL ON THE ASIAN HANDICAP
Plymouth appear a touch too big for Friday night’s Championship fixture against Watford. Argyle are suffering a few key injuries and haven’t performed particularly impressively on second-tier data rankings, yet the Pilgrims always command respect at their Home Park base, picking up 14 of their overall 16 points in front of their own supporters (W4-D2-L1).
Go back to the beginning of last term and the Devon outfit have won 14 of their 30 home Championship contests (W14-D7-L9), including a victory over current league leaders Sunderland, highlighting their potential threat. So I’m eager to get the hosts onside with a +0.50 Asian Handicap start at 1.75 considering Watford’s inconsistent efforts.
Watford boss Tom Cleverley has sounded a warning to the Championship, suggesting his sixth-placed side still haven’t come close to hitting top gear. However, with the Hornets only sporadically finding form – rarely away – I’m prepared to oppose the visitors, who have already lost six of eight away days, shipping multiple goals in six of those eight road trips.
The Hertfordshire club are conceding an average of 2.05 Expected Goals (xG) away from their Vicarage Road base and have had 10 players away on international duty, four of which travelled outside of Europe. The Friday night start immediately after the break has to be considered a disadvantage and so I’m prepared to oppose Watford here at the prices.
- Plymouth vs Watford – Plymouth +0.5 Asian Handicap (1.75)
