Matchbook Consistently Best Price On Football vs Our Competitors

How do we stack up versus our competitors on Football prices?

The repetitiveness of a PR person in our space claiming their company offers the best price on an event is tiresome at best.

Our employment status most likely biases us, but what if the proof is actually in the pudding?

I spend a decent amount of time on the Oddschecker price grid for my own punting research. From these visits, I’m confident that Matchbook is more often than not the Best Price on Football versus our Exchange competitors and also competes favourably against the two tightest margin sportsbooks on the grid (Bet 365 & SBK)

I’ve taken a sample of some marquee fixtures below and will update you as the weeks’ progress. Feel free to reach out on my own Twitter channel or on the @TeamMatchbook Twitter account if you have any feedback on these comparisons.

Liverpool (2.06) vs Real Madrid (3.9) – Champions League Final

Time: 12:04 Day of the game

Los Blancos just always seem to get it done in this competition as they claim European Cup number 14. They were a knocking price of 3.9 at lunchtime on the day of the game and actually drifted to 4.0 closer to kick-off.

Needless to say, we were the best price on the Reds too throughout the day.

Aston Villa (2.22) vs Burnley (3.75) – Premier League

Time: 12:01 Day of the game

In a big game for Burnley in their relation battle, We were best price on both teams to win but alas the draw was the winning side on this one!

Man Utd (3.5) vs Chelsea (2.26) – Premier League

Time: 12:35 Day of the game

A boring 1-1 draw at Old Trafford which we were also the best price on the draw (3.65) – can’t do much better than that!

Man City vs Real Madrid (7.2) – Champions League

Time: 11:40 Day of the game

A 4-3 reversal in this first leg affair at the Etihad with Los Blancos ultimately prevailing in this tie. There were far worse 7.2 shots to be backing this season!

Arsenal vs Man Utd (3.8) – Premier League

Time: 11:40 Day of the game

As you read on you’ll see a theme here with the Red Devils in that Matchbook layers want to take them on each and every week in whatever way they can. There’s a reason Matchbook is for bettors who know better ?

Liverpool vs Man Utd (8.4) – Premier League

Time: 10:00 Day of the game

One might argue that United could have been 80.4 in this one and we still wouldn’t have seen much action but as you’ll see throughout this process there is some massive value in the outsiders on our soccer markets. For example, Bet 365 were a pretty measly 6.0 on United in this one ?

Man City (2.58) vs Liverpool (3.05) – FA Cup

Time: 13:30 Day of the game

Being the best price on both sides in this one tells its own story and Liverpool being available at more than 2/1 in old money was an added boost for Reds backers at Matchbook.

Tottenham vs Brighton (7.2) – Premier League

Time: 11:00 Day of the game

The seagulls laid claim to another North London top 4 chasing side following their downing of the Gunners the weekend previous.

Atlético vs Man City (1.84) – Champions League

Time: 16:00 Day of the game

Yes it ended scoreless at the Wanda but it would have been hard to back against this City side on recent form and they were a standout price at Matchbook. The difference vs 1.75 at Bet365 was very noticeable ?

Arsenal (1.68) | Brighton (6.6) | Leeds (2.68) | Chelsea 2.02) – Premier League

Time: 14:36 Day of the game

Three 3 pm games in this particular slot and we were the best price on four of the sides including all three winners of these games.

Everton vs Man Utd (1.93) – Premier League

Time: 11:01 Day of the game

We were a standout price on Manchester United (1.92) away at Everton as the Matchbook layers got off to a great start to the weekend as the Red Devils obliged with arguably their worst performance of the season. A pretty notable difference to Betfair here as they were 1.85 ?

Man City (1.35) vs Atlético (12.5) – Champions League

Time: 12:01 Day of the game

A tight affair at the Emirates but interesting to see we were pretty much the best price on all of the match odds outcomes (including the draw) throughout the day.

Wales (3.0) vs Austria (2.96) – World Cup Qualifier

Time: 16:45 Day of the game

The classic three-way pick-em here with each side of the match odds very close to 3.0 (2/1). A most competitive margin for this crucial qualifier with plenty of support for the boys from the valleys as we were consistently the best price on Wales throughout the day.

Portugal (1.39) vs Turkey (10.0) – World Cup Qualifier

Time: 16:13 Day of the game

So it’s not just club action that we’re generally the best price on – a further look at the World Cup qualifiers indicates that Matchbook layers are only too happy to get stuck in!

Man Utd (2.46) vs Tottenham (3.15) – Premier League

Time: 10:00 Day of the game

Over 7 hours before kick-off Matchbook was the standout price on both sides ahead of a topsy-turvy affair at Old Trafford.

Liverpool vs Inter (6.0) – Champions League

Time: 12:41 Day of the game

Matchbook layers were only too happy to lay the Italians in this one as the difference in price with BF Exchange (5.75) & Bet 365 (5.25) showed. Simeone Inzaghi’s side rode their luck in a big way but there were plenty of happy Inter backers on the night.

We were also comfortably the best price on the draw in this one.

Bayern (1.22) vs Slazburg (16.0) – Champions League

Time: 12:41 Day of the game

A comfortable no doubt 7-1 win for the Bavarians in this one and yes 1.22 was a skimpy price but the difference in price on the Matchbook price on Salzburg vs Bet 365 (11.0) was quite telling.

Brentford (5.2) vs Tottenham – Premier League

If you were in the market to oppose Conte’s men in this one then Matchbook was very much the place to be. We were comfortably the best price on the Bees at 5.2 while we also topped the Oddschecker grid vs our competitors on the draw.

A scoreless draw which Brentford had the better of for much of the game.

Saturday 5th Match – 8 out of 10 Premier League sides

Time: 13:19 Day of the game

  • Wolves (2.46)
  • Crystal Palace (3.65)
  • Southampton (3.25)
  • Chelsea (1.55)
  • Norwich (3.1)
  • Brentford (2.7)
  • Newcastle (2.84)
  • Brighton (3.0)

I’d never be one to dispel the theory of the ‘early bird getting the worm’ but where Matchbook catches the eye in terms of Football prices is the day of the game. This snapshot of just over 90 minutes from these 3 pm kick-offs highlights as much.

Leeds (3.85) vs Tottenham (2.04) – Premier League

Time: 11:50 Day of the game

As it was my birthday, I didn’t get too much time to spend on the Oddschecker grid on this particular Saturday, but this one, in particular, did stand out. Mark O’Haire had tipped up Spurs at a slight shade of odds-on two days prior, but the drift on Conte’s men allowed an even bigger payout for Tottenham backers at Matchbook ?

Atlético (2.8) vs Man Utd (2.98) – Champions League

Time: 12:04 Day of the game

A late Anthony Elanga goal saved United’s blushes in this one, but alas, it was only scant consolation for United’s backers at Matchbook.

Ralf Ragnick’s side were heavily backed throughout the day of the game on site, but they were still more or less best price the entire day on the Oddschecker price grid while we were also comfortably best price on Atléti ⬇️

Villareal (2.68) vs Juventus – Champions League

Time: 13:41 Day of the game

A 1-1 stalemate at the Cerámica, but Matchbook customers were able to consistently get the best price on both teams in the lead up to the game.

Barcelona (2.0) vs Napoli – Europa League

Time: 15:15 Day of the game

It was a game that ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw but a nice edge on Barca here, getting them at plus money while our competitors were at odds on prices.

Dortmund vs Rangers (9.4) – Europa League

Time: 15:23 Day of the game

There was a massive win for the Gers at the Signal Iduna and a lousy night for Matchbook layers as plenty got involved at the 9.2 on offer at Matchbook. What’s even more noticeable here is the difference in price to Betfair.

A £50 bet at 9.4 at Matchbook would have returned you £31.60 more than if you had backed Rangers at Betfair Exchange

*(calculated at 2% net win commission)

Inter vs Liverpool (2.18) – Champions League

Time: 11:30 Day of the game

Jurgen Klopp’s side were made to work for their 2-0 nil win in Milan, but Matchbook customers got a nice slight edge in their price vs our competitors.

There was plenty of 2.2 closer to kick-off, but for the interest of clarity, this was checked closer to lunchtime on the day of the game. We were the best price on the draw too, which was a runner up until Firmino’s breakthrough goal.

Sporting (9.8) vs Man City (1.4) – Champions League

Time: 11:55 Day of the game

One way traffic in Lisbon for this one as Man City strolled to a 5-0 win. We were consistently Best Price on ALL outcomes of this game throughout the day but spare a thought for the bettors who backed Sporting here ?
