Producer Daniel Hussey is on-hand to summarise the Podcast Best Bets from Beverley, Goodwood and Newmarket.

A Racing TV feel to the podcast with host Tom Stanley joined by Donn McClean and Steve Jones.

A few strong shouts this week and a small bit of agreement among our panel…

13:30 Beverley – Joe Rowntree Memorial Handicap

Steve likes Tangled at 15.0 with his stakes split in the win and place market. Tom is happy to side with Antagonize (17.0) but wants to get out during the run while Donn is with Outrun The Storm, who should be marked up for his run last time out.

  • Tom – Antagonize 17.0 (w/p)
  • Donn – Outrun The Storm 4.0
  • Steve – Tangled 15.0 (w/p)

13:50 Goodwood – Prestige Fillies’ Stakes

Mottisfont at 9.0 is a “nice price” for Steve, who liked the way she travelled in her maiden. Queen Olly for Tom and Donn, with both thinking she should be shorter in the betting (5.5 at time of recording).

  • Tom – Queen Olly 5.5
  • Donn – Queen Olly 5.5
  • Steve – Mottisfont 9.0

14:05 Beverley – Silver Cup Handicap

Tom and Donn agree here (no prizes for guessing who was first in!!). Both think 4lb hike is more than fair for Kitsune Power (4.5), and Stall 3 is ideal. Steve may be interested in Post Impressionist if he gets 4.5 or bigger.

  • Tom – Kitsune Power 4.5
  • Donn – Kitsune Power 4.5
  • Steve – No bet (Post Impressionist if 4.5+)

14:25 Goodwood – 7f Handicap

Donn thinks 7.5 is “big enough” for a horse like Lyndon B, whose draw of 14 last time out didn’t help despite his victory. His mark of 87 is more than fair given he has won off 90 before. The Turpinator (13.0) for Tom who’s looked good for Tom Ward. Steve likes Ascot Adventure (13.0), who ran very wide when favourite at Goodwood in June. His soft-ground record could be the key to a big run here.

  • Tom – The Turpinator 13.0
  • Donn – Lyndon B 7.5
  • Steve – Ascot Adventure 13.0

14:40 Beverley – Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes

Team steam here with 11.0 available on King of Stars. Steve bats off Tom’s question on whether he can make up the 8lbs on ratings with the favourite Tis Marvellous (4.5). His front running style should suit this race so expect a big run if the ground keeps drying out.

  • Tom – King Of Stars 11.0
  • Donn – King Of Stars 11.0
  • Steve – King Of Stars 11.0

15:00 Goodwood – March Stakes

Described as “yuk” and “a nonsense of a race” by host Tom Stanley but Steve Jones is slightly more enthusiastic. He’s going to have a small bet on Perfect Alibi who is 5.5 at the time of the recording.

  • Tom – yuk
  • Donn – No bet
  • Steve – Perfect Alibi 5.5 (small)

15:15 Newmarket – Jenningsbet Hopeful Stakes

Chairman of the Great Ambassador fan club, Tom has convinced Donn to join the bandwagon. Donn likes the way he finished last season strong and is expecting a similar trend this time around. Steve is backing Vadream, who is 7.5 at the time of recording. He’s willing to forgive her below-par runs this season, given the strength of races she’s been running in.

  • Tom – Great Ambassador 5.0
  • Donn – Great Ambassador 5.0
  • Steve – Vadream 7.5

15:35 Goodwood – Celebration Mile Stakes

Process of elimination has led Donn to Mutasaabeq (2.1), who he feels is the most likely winner. Steve likes outsider of the field Stormy Antarctic (11.0), who has a good record after a break. Tom doesn’t think this is a great renewal, so is backing Jadoomi (5.5).

  • Tom – Jadoomi 5.5
  • Donn – Mutasaabeq 2.1
  • Steve – Stormy Antarctic 11.0

Any Other Bets

Depending on price, Donn thinks Juncture might be interesting vs Seisai in Snow Fairy Stakes at The Curragh on Saturday with the step up in trip set to suit.

  • Tom – No bet
  • Donn – Juncture (15:40 Curragh)
  • Steve – No bet

Best Lays

  • Tom – Lay Mutasaabeq 2.1 (15:35 Goodwood)
  • Donn – No Lay
  • Steve – Lay Mutasaabeq 2.1 (15:35 Goodwood)

Best Bets

  • Tom – Queen Olly 5.5 (13:50 Goodwood)
  • Donn – Lyndon B 7.5 (14:25 Goodwood)
  • Steve – Tangled 15.0 (w/p) (13:30 Beverley)
