Looking at the betting as well as our own thoughts, we decided to break the market up into two.

It’s hard not seeing the winner come from the top four in the betting and I am siding with last year’s Stayers Hurdle winner Flooring Porter after his impressive run at Leopardstown over Christmas.
Despite giving his market rival at least six lengths at the start, the Gavin Cromwell-trained horse looked like he could get his nose in front before Klassical Dream eventually hung on at the finish to win by two lengths.
I’m expecting the start to be a lot more smooth at Cheltenham in March, and at a price of 6.4 compared to 3.9, I think that gap is too big to ignore.
Therefore, I’m having a win bet on Flooring Porter to win back-to-back Stayers Hurdles at 6.4.

While Deasy also agreed that the 2022 Cheltenham Stayers Hurdle should be between the top four in the betting, he did like one at a price.
Last year’s runner-up to Flooring Porter, and two-time Cheltenham Festival winner, Sire De Berlais makes appeal at 42.0 at time of recording.
However, subsequent to recording, the Gordon Elliot horse qualified for the Pertemps at Cheltenham (a race he has won twice) after finishing fourth at Warwick.
With him now having more than one option, do tred carefully when backing this horse for either race.
