What are our Racing podcast team backing on Friday? Tom Stanley reveals all
Two days covered on this week’s pod as we build to the feature racing on Saturday at Newmarket. Friday begins with two tricky handicaps at York and then into two Group races from HQ. I think the most exciting race of the day is the Joel Stakes with Benbatl and Master Of The Seas going head to head, both with some questions to answer as to their current condition.
My best bet here is in the form of Music Society. 15.0 at the time of recording is far too big on form. Steve likes Mr Wagyu, whose form ties in with my selection, while Donn sticks with the progressive Cairn Island.
Tough and very open, but I’ll side with Lion Tower, who looks very much on the up, and this is his trip. Steve is with an old boy who loves it here.

A strong case at the prices made for Romantic Time by Donn, and he’s tempted me into a bet on her. The favourite is also worth keeping on side for me whilst Steve is with the lightly raced Jumbly.
Too tricky to call for me with so many variables, in my opinion. Steve thinks the favourite will take some beating, but Donn suggests there’s value to be had against the top two in the betting.
