13:32 Musselburgh – Royal Mile Handicap
A tricky 3-year-old handicap to kick things off. Adele is sticking with her husband Paul who has spoken positively about his chance at the prices. Steve is with Last Hoorah who should help cut out the running whilst I’m chancing the completely unexposed Spirit Catcher for a yard with a decent record in this.
- Tom – Spirit Catcher
- Adele – Desert Angel
- Steve – Last Hoorah
13:50 Newbury – Dubai Duty-Free Finest Surprise Stakes
Steve and I agree that Stowell should have a lot more to offer this year. He’s been off since July but has some solid form in the book. Adele thinks Raymond Tusk is the one to be with, small stakes.
- Tom – Stowell
- Adele – Raymond Tusk
- Steve – Stowell
14:04 Musselburgh – Silver Arrow Handicap
Adele suggests Another Batt has solid claims and I’m a backer at the prices too, win and place. Steve’s best bet of the weekend goes here whose Doncaster form from two starts ago is working out well.
- Tom – Another Batt
- Adele – Another Batt
- Steve – Gioia Cieca
14:25 Newbury – Dubai Duty-Free Stakes
Tough and a difference of opinions. Adele makes the favourite a bet on form and she’s hard to argue with. I think Jumbly could really improve this year and she was a winner at the track last time. Steve thinks if there’s a Guineas contender in here then it’s Shaara.
- Tom – Jumbly
- Adele – Wild Beauty
- Steve – Shaara
14:39 Musselburgh – Holyrood Handicap
I’m chancing Sunday Sovereign who could just pop up at a decent price in a race like this. Adele is strong on Copper Knight having seen him go well in a piece of work recently. She likes Makanah to place too and that’s Steve’s relatively strong selection.
- Tom – Sunday Sovereign
- Adele – Copper Knight / Makanah
- Steve – Makanah
15:00 Newbury – Watership Down Stud Too Darn Hot Greenham Stakes
Best bet of the weekend here for Adele and I. Perfect Power was the standout sprint two-year-old last year and an extra furlong shouldn’t be a problem (though I think a mile might be). Add to that the favourite likely wanting softer ground and he’s a strong play. Steve isn’t convinced about Perfect Power staying even this far and he’d rather be with Lusail for a team with a good record in this.
- Tom – Perfect Power
- Adele – Perfect Power
- Steve – Lusail

15:14 Musselbrugh – Queen’s Cup (Heritage Handicap)
Steve’s selection isn’t proven at the trip but he progressed well last year and should have more to offer this term. Adele and I are against the early favourite and prefer the chances of Ian Williams’s Enemy who drops back into a handicap off an interesting mark.
- Tom – Enemy
- Adele – Enemy
- Steve – Sir Rumi
15:35 Newbury – Spring Cup Handicap
Two big prices for me in Etonian, who looks well treated back in Grade, and Teodilna, who Jamie Spencer should get on well with. Adele is playing the place market with Isla Kai and Steve is sticking to his guns with Lincoln fancy Modern News.
- Tom – Etonian / Teodolina
- Adele – Isla Kai (place)
- Steve – Modern News
15:10 Fairyhouse Sunday – Mares Novice Hurdle
No worse than yielding ground could make this tough for current favourite Love Envoi and Steve and I want to oppose her. Adele thinks Grangee has been a bit overlooked in the market, mainly because producer Dan is adamant she’s a bet…
- Tom – Lay Love Envoi
- Adele – Grangee for producer Dan!
- Steve – Lay Love Envoi
16:55 Fairyhouse Sunday – Gold Cup Novices Chase
Adele thinks the favourite could and should be shorter. I’ll play the without market and want Master McShee on side, as does Adele. Ultimately, it’s a small stake, sit back and watch job.
- Tom – Master McShee w/o Galopin Des Champs
- Adele – Galopin Des Champs / Master McShee (place)
- Steve – Galopin Des Champs (no bet)
17:00 Fairyhouse Monday – Irish Grand National
Some decent prices going up here as you’d expect. Steve likes Mister Fogpatches (26.0) in cheekpieces for the first time. Adele is with Off You Go (34.0) also in cheekpieces and wants talking horse Gaillard Du Mesnil (9.0) on side too. My Grand National fancy Death Duty (21.0) lines up and I’m sticking with him plus Lieutenant Command (34.0) who looks interesting up in trip.
- Tom – Death Duty / Lieutenant Command
- Adele – Off You Go small bet / Gaillard Du Mesnil
- Steve – Mister Fogpatches (w/p)
Best Lays
- Tom – Lay Love Envoi @ 2.88 (15:00 Fairyhouse Sunday)
- Adele – Lay Angel Bleu @ 2.9 (15:00 Newbury)
- Steve – Lay Love Envoi @ 2.88 (15:00 Fairyhouse Sunday)
Best Bets
- Tom – Perfect Power (15:00 Newbury)
- Adele – Perfect Power (15:00 Newbury)
- Steve – Gioia Cieca (14:04 Musselburgh)
