Racing: Breeders Cup Tips; Best Bets From Aintree, Wincanton & Doncaster

Fresh from a number of big-priced winners from last week’s podcast, the team is back in search of more. Here’s Tom Stanley…

A successful podcast last week with a fair few bets landed, including Steve’s best bet Amoola Gold (18.0) and Sam Turner’s best bet Soaring Glory returning at 6.6 with Matchbook.

A pan-Atlantic preview this week between four tracks starting at Aintree and finishing with the turf races at the Breeders’ Cup. It’s safer gambling week too – a timely reminder that this should be fun!

Grand Sefton (14:15 Aintree)

Steve and I agree here that the smart play is Sir Jack Yeats. He’s a fair price at the time of recording (13.0) and loves it around here. Deasy has a couple of selections on-side, including the winner of this two years ago.

  • Tom – Sir Jack Yeats
  • Steve – Sir Jack Yeats
  • Deasy – Hogan’s Height (small win) Mac Tottie (win/place)

Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (14:25 Wincanton)

Both Steve and Deasy are looking a good way down the betting here and Belle De Manech gets a good mention at 15.0. I think Rose Of Arcadia is best treated in the field and the yard have made a good start to the season.

  • Tom – Rose Of Arcadia
  • Steve – Belle De Manech
  • Deasy – Perfect Myth, Belle De Manech (if ground goes softer)

November Handicap (14:40 Doncaster)

Deasy and I are with Farhan after his excellent run at Newmarket last time. He’s unexposed at the trip. Steve likes a few at bigger prices and is very surprised Prince Alex can be backed at 34.0 at the time of writing.

  • Tom – Farhan
  • Steve – Prince Alex/Flyin’ Solo
  • Deasy – Farhan

Badger Beer Chase (15:00 Wincanton)

A good few going up in an open race. Ofalltheginjoints is popular (again the well-treated Tizzard horse angle) and Steve makes a strong case for an old favourite in Double Shuffle. My best bet of the day rocks up here in the form of Hurricane Harvey.

  • Tom – Hurricane Harvey / Ofalltheginjoints
  • Steve – Double Shuffle / El Presente
  • Deasy – Ofalltheginjoints / Potterman

2m 4f Hurdle (15:20 Aintree)

Steve and I are with last year’s winner who’s getting six pounds from the favourite. Deasy thinks the Skelton horse is the one to side with.

  • Tom – Summerville Boy
  • Steve – Summerville Boy
  • Deasy – Wilde About Oscar

Elite Hurdle (15:35 Wincanton)

Is this the time to catch Goshen? I think it might be…Steve and Deasy suggest Sceau Royal is a far safer bet, with track and ground very much in his favour.

  • Tom – Goshen
  • Steve – Sceau Royal
  • Deasy – Sceau Royal

BC Turf Sprint (19:40 Del Mar)

Golden Pal wants a bend and should have too much speed for these. I think he wants a US jockey too. Deasy is deserting his Irish roots and place laying A Case Of You.

  • Tom – Golden Pal
  • Steve – Lieutenant Dan
  • Deasy – Place lay A Case Of You

BC Filly & Mare Turf (20:59 Del Mar)

Only me with a bet here and it’s Loves Only You. She has some of the best form going with her Sheema Classic third. This trip is ideal for her and I’m surprised she’s only third in the betting.

  • Tom – Loves Only You
  • Steve – No bet
  • Deasy – No bet

BC Mile (22:20 Del Mar)

Both Steve and I think this should be ideal for Space Blues. I respect the chief home challenge but the selection should be too good. Deasy suggests that even this mile will be too far for Space Blues and wants to lay him.

  • Tom – Space Blues
  • Steve – Space Blues
  • Deasy – Lay Space Blues

BC Turf (23:40 Del Mar)

Deasy is with the upwardly mobile Teona. Steve thinks Walton Street is overpriced on form with the Arc winner while I’m keeping the faith with Yibir after his monster run last time.

  • Tom – Yibir
  • Steve – Walton Street
  • Deasy – Teona (small win/place)

Best Bets

  • Tom – Hurricane Harvey (15:00 Wincanton)
  • Steve – Your Darling (13:40 Aintree)
  • Deasy – Sceau Royal (15:35 Wincanton)

Best of luck!
