One of my favourite weekends of the year has arrived, and we’re blessed with some reasonably open betting heats in the form of the Cazoo Oaks and Derby.
The Derby would be even more open if Aidan were running more than one mind…
A fascinating Oaks is the highlight of Friday’s card, and we have a favourite priced up on reputation at home. None of the panel can back Santa Barbara at current prices:
Best bet lines up from a few of the team here in the form of Snowfall. And Deasy and Rixy may just have unearthed another Qualify here (O’Brien big-priced winner) with La Jaconde. Steve thinks potential doubtful stayer Saffron Beach is worth chancing at the prices.
A few of us sitting this out but Rixy is very keen on the favourite. Deasy points out this often goes to a horse well found in the betting but thinks Raging is the value.
Couple of shouts for the first two in the betting whilst Deasy chancing a locally trained horse at a price.
Important to only be against the favourite if the ground is quicker than expected in my humble opinion. Deasy is against him whatever the weather though.
Can’t find a bet here whilst the rest of the panel have five selections between them including a couple at big prices (at the time of recording) from Deasy and Rixy.
