Tom Stanley is joined by Declan Rix and Sam Turner to preview Tuesday and Wednesday’s racing at Goodwood.
What a week ahead! Both the Goodwood and Galway festivals provide some top-quality racing and plenty of betting opportunities. We will go easy on Galway and major on Goodwood, still taking in the features from Ireland.
Goodwood had over 30 mils of rain on Sunday so we won’t be starting on the quick ground that was at one stage expected.
Fair to say that none of the team are getting behind the favourite. I am on weather and price watch at the moment. Sam will be with Trueshan whatever the ground throws up. Rixy‘s current position is to be against Sir Ron Priestley in the place market.
Tough handicap to start the meeting. I’m with an old favourite of mine particularly given it has rained. Both Sam and Rixy are with It’s Good To Laugh and Rixy also finds one to support in the place market.
The boys are with the current second favourite here and Sam thinks there’s a chance he’ll go off at the top of the market.Rixy found the Coventry winner last time but deserts him here. I’m sitting this one out…far too hard.
I’m a massive Space Blues fan and he’s my best bet of the day. Sam is also with the favourite but makes a case for Kinross and Rixy is even sweeter on that runner.
Rixy against the favourite with Alcohol Free but I’d prefer her in the w/o market and that’s my best bet. Sam is with the Hannon filly and I’m also chancing that trainer’s other runner at a big price.
Essentially we are all with the Haggas runner. Easy ground should be no problem and his mark looks very fair. A couple going up at bigger prices too.
Massive field for this race and both Sam and Rixy save their best bets for here. We are all positive about Onassis for all Rixy looks elsewhere – she looks to have plenty in her favour.
All against the favourite as not certain this test will suit. The selection looks a ‘now horse’ and doesn’t lack for speed. I’m also chancing one at a massive price up in grade.
Well, The Shunter should surely take some beating here if his jumping holds up. That’s a worry for Sam so he looks to a horse that went so well here last year.
