Aintree Day 2 Tips

Again some open enough Grade 1s and some fiendishly difficult handicaps make for some decent betting opportunities. Hopefully, something at a decent price gets landed.

Top Novices’ Hurdle (14:20)

I’m sitting this one out and to be honest, the guys are fairly tepid with their selections. Deasy siding with one who did him a turn at a massive price at Cheltenham and Sam going for a couple win and place at decent prices.

  • Deasy – For Pleasure
  • Sam – Belfast Banter / Houx Gris
  • Rixy – Ajero
  • Tom – No Bet

Mildmay Novices’ Chase (14:50)

I like Shan Blue here who should appreciate this track more than Cheltenham. Rixy was none too impressed with the ride he got that day! He goes for a horse in the ‘without’ market whilst Sam has one at a price onside.

  • Deasy – No bet
  • Sam – Fidlerontheroof (place market, small win)
  • Rixy – The Big Breakaway w/o Chantry House
  • Tom – Shan Blue

Melling Chase (15:25)

Three best bets going up here so I hope one of us is right! Deasy’s is very much in the place market in this 8-runner field.

  • Deasy – Nuts Well (25% win / 75% place)
  • Sam – Politologue / Nuts Well
  • Rixy – Politologue
  • Tom – Notebook

Sefton Novices’ Hurdle (16:40)

Not much love for the favourite here. Sam siding with Nicky Henderson’s runners and I agree with one of them, if not both to be honest.

  • Deasy – Midnight River
  • Sam – Bothwell Bridge / Gallyhill
  • Rixy – no bet
  • Tom – Gallyhill

Friday – Other Bets

  • Deasy – Mister Coffey (13:45) Visioman (16:05)
  • Sam – Edwardstone (13:45)
  • Rixy – Crribean Boy (16:05)
  • Tom – Outlander (16:05)

A couple of shouts in the opener including Sam’s best bet on the day. Otherwise, we’re focusing on the Topham and if mine wins I’m relocating to Barbados!

Friday – Best Bets

  • Deasy – Nuts Well
  • Sam – Edwardstone
  • Rixy – Politologue
  • Tom – Notebook
