Thursday Racing Tips From Newmarket & Cheltenham

I Love this week of racing!

It’s the time of year when both codes collide, and there’s some great action between jump and flat racing HQs on Thursday. Just Steve Jones and I on the pod this week, we tackle five of the six ITV races (leaving out the Wood Ditton given it’s a race for unraced 3-year-olds!)

6f Handicap (13:50 Newmarket)

We start in full agreement here and side with Charlie Appleby’s horse. He started last year with a bang; races prominently has been gelded and should be well ahead of his mark.

Fillies’ Juv Handicap Hurdle (14:05 Cheltenham)

It’s either going to be a very good or terrible day for us. Steve and I think Joseph O’Brien’s filly is best bet material at 3.25 (at the time of recording) and should go off a good bit shorter.

  • Steve – Scholastic (BEST BET)
  • Tom – Scholastic (BEST BET)

Abernant Stakes (15:00 Newmarket)

Steve officially sitting this one out, but I think there’s just enough juice in Oxted’s price at 1.75 to get involved. He should take some beating, even if not at 100%.

  • Steve – No Bet
  • Tom – Oxted

Craven Stakes (15:35 Newmarket)

All selections win and place here, and we are against the top of the market, thinking there’s value to be had with some likely prominent racers onside.

  • Steve – Mystery Smiles
  • Tom – Mystery Smile / Akmaam
