Mark O'Haire - Villa Park & Canaries Contest Goals

Football betting analyst Mark O’Haire returns to share a couple of his favourite fancies across the globe with a focus on the Premier League and La Liga this weekend.

BOTH SIDES TO SCORE AT VILLA PARK

A tasty 58% of all Premier League games this season have seen Both Teams To Score bank, a hit-rate that implies odds of around 1.73 on a blanket top-flight game. So I’m eager to support BTTS between two of the division’s biggest hitters on Saturday afternoon with the headline selection available to support at 1.75 when Aston Villa welcome Fulham.

Aston Villa are desperate to respond to their Wembley no-show in last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final defeat and still have their eyes on the top-five prize – Fulham’s turnaround success at Southampton has ensured the Cottagers too have plenty to play for with a first qualification for European football since 2012 also well within range from here.

We’ve two hungry and motivated sides going head-to-head with each team more than capable of taking a proactive and attack-minded approach. It’s true too, both sets of defences have really struggled this term, giving us a wonderful recipe for goals.

No EPL side has seen more Both Teams To Score winners at home than Aston Villa – 14 of their 17 Villa Park showdowns have produced goals at both ends with Unai Emery’s high-flyers recording only two clean sheets in that same sample. Go back further and the Villains have silenced their opponents in only six of their past 38 league fixtures as hosts.

That should encourage a Fulham side that have delivered BTTS profit in 14 of 16 encounters with fellow top-half teams, whilst seeing a league-high 74% of their overall outings pay-out in the same market this season, including 12 of 17 away days. It’s also worth noting that the only the relegated bottom-three have kept fewer clean sheets than the Whites’ tally of five.

Considering the circumstances, I’m surprised we’re able to grab Both Teams To Score at 1.70 or above and it’s my standout selection in the Premier League this weekend.

GOALS FORECAST FOR CANARIES CONTEST

Valencia have enjoyed a remarkable resurgence in 2025. Having won only two of their previous 24 La Liga matches, legendary midfielder Ruben Baraja was relieved of his duties as head coach before Christmas with Los Che moving to trigger the release clause of West Brom’s highly-rated Spanish boss Carlos Corberan. The recovery has been exceptional.

Under Corberan’s tutorship, Valencia have moved from joint-bottom to seven points from safety, even including a momentous away-day success at Real Madrid in their astonishing upsurge. Incredibly, only three clubs have picked up more points than Los Che since the managerial switch with Murcielagos posting W7-D6-L3 in that 16-game sequence.

However, with games still to play, Valencia aren’t yet assured of La Liga safety and Saturday evening’s trip to Las Palmas could be key. The Canary Islanders occupy the final relegation place and victory for Los Amarillos would bring the visitors right back into the dog-fight. It’s your traditional six-pointer, although this encounter has the potential to be entertaining.

No La Liga side has seen Both Teams To Score pay-out more often than Las Palmas’ 70% hit-rate – the hosts have also recorded the league’s fewest clean sheets, silencing only four of their 33 opponents across the campaign. Ten of their 13 Estadio Gran Canaria against sides outside of the top-three have delivered in the BTTS column and a repeat appeals here too.

Valencia have failed to score only once in 19 league dates going back to December, yet Los Che have also managed just four shutouts of their own in 25 tussles. Away from their Mestalla comforts, the visitors have kept their sheets clean only once over the whole season, whilst 10 of their previous 11 away days produced Both Teams To Score profit.

BTTS is offered at 1.83 this weekend and it’s a price I’m keen to support considering the duos defensive numbers, as well as their motivation to secure maximum points.
