Aintree Friday 14:20 – Top Novices’ Hurdle
A difference of opinion at the head of the market. Jonbon is surely too good for these, even if he found Constitution Hill too good at Cheltenham. Donn and Deasy think the 4.0 about El Fabiolo is worth taking against the favourite – he looks like he could be fairly smart.
- Tom – Jonbon
- Rixy – Jonbon
- Donn – El Fabiolo
- Deasy – El Fabiolo
Aintree Friday 14:55 – Mildmay Novices’ Chase
Fascinating race. Three of the panel are with Bravemansgame though it’s fair to say we each made a case for another horse depending on how it is run. Worry for favourite backers would be if Ahoy Senor sets out to make this a real test and that is the angle Donn likes at the prices.
- Tom – Bravemansgame
- Rixy – Bravemansgame
- Donn – Ahoy Senor
- Deasy – Bravemansgame
Aintree Friday 15:30 – Melling Chase
Deasy and I can’t really see past last year’s winner. He is proven at the trip and easily the best horse in the race. Rixy thinks likely front runner Allmankind is worth a bet at the prices though he’s not against the favourite. Donn is looking forward to seeing Captain Guinness over further and he does boast some very strong 2-mile form.
- Tom – Fakir D’oudairies
- Rixy – Allmankind (win & place)
- Donn – Captain Guinness
- Deasy – Fakir D’oudairies (win) Hitman (place)

Aintree Friday 16:05 – Topham Handicap Chase
Two big prices for me – I think the 41.0 about Riders Onthe Storm is very fair. Donn thinks Willie Mullins can make it three in a row with Royal Rendezvous and Deasy agrees, and also wants to back 21.0 shot Batcio for Ted Walsh.
- Tom – Riders Onthe Storm / Janika
- Rixy – No bet
- Donn – Royal Rendezvous
- Deasy – Batcio (w/p) Royal Rendezvous (w/p)
Aintree Friday 16:40 – Sefton Novices’ Hurdle
No standout class horse but it’s competitive. Donn likes the Martin Pipe winner – the race often produces a future top-level stayer. Two at 8.0 for Rixy whilst Deasy likes a 15.0 shot and I’m with the horse that beat him at Warwick at 21.0
- Tom – Stag Horn
- Rixy – Crystal Glory / Gelino Bello
- Donn – Banbridge
- Deasy – Gentleman At Arms (w/p)
Friday Best Lays
- Tom – Place Lay Captain Guinness 15:30
- Rixy – No lays
- Donn – Place Lay Funambule Sivola 15:30
- Deasy – No lay
Friday Best Bets
- Tom – Fakir D’oudairies 15:30
- Rixy – Bravemansgame 14:55
- Donn – Ahoy Senor 14:55
- Deasy – Fakir D’oudairies 15:30
Best of luck!
