Thursday 7th July
13:50 Newmarket – Bahrain Trophy Stakes
Both Charlie and I are keen enough on Walk Of Stars, gelded since his disappointing effort in the Derby. He has talent but didn’t enjoy anything about Epsom and he should go better here. Sam isn’t too keen on the top two in the betting and would rather be small stakes behind Zechariah after his Asdoct near-miss.
- Tom – Walk Of Stars
- Sam – Zechariah
- Charlie – Walk Of Stars
14:25 Newmarket – July Stakes
Very much about the top two in the betting here and no strong opinions. It’s 2 – 1 in favour of the Coventry second, for all Little Big Bear’s form is working out very well. I have an inkling that this track will suit the Hannon horse a little more than Ascot and the yard has a solid record in this.
- Tom – Persian Force
- Sam – Persian Force
- Charlie – Little Big Bear (non-runner)
15:00 Newmarket – 6f Handicap
My old foe Bosh lines up here and I’m going again, maybe for the last time. Charlie is willing to forgive Ingra Tor a below-par run last time whilst Sam wants a couple on side including 21.0 shot Azure Blue.
- Tom – Bosh (w/pl)
- Sam – Khanjar / Azure Blue (small w/pl)
- Charlie – Ingra Tor (w/pl)
15:35 Newmarket – Princess of Wales’ Stakes
My best bet on the day in the form of Yibir. He’s too good for these on his day and I’m not convinced about the trip for Mostahdaf. Charlie and Sam are leaning the other way though with doubts about Yibir’s constitution.
- Tom – Yibir
- Sam – Mostahdaf
- Charlie – Mostahdaf
Any Other Thursday Bets
- Tom – Noble Dynasty w/pl (16:40 Newmarket)
- Sam – Noble Dynasty w/pl (16:40 Newmarket)
- Charlie – No bet
Best Thursday Lays
- Tom – No lay
- Sam – Masekela (13:50 Newmarket) – max price 2.9
- Charlie – Mighty Ulysses (16:10 Newmarket) under 2.5
Best Thursday Bets
- Tom – Yibir (15:35 Newmarket)
- Sam – Strangerontheshore (17:05 Carlisle)
- Charlie – Mosthadaf (15:35 Newmarket)

Friday 8th July
13:50 Newmarket – 1m2f Handicap
Charlie is with Ascot 6th Knightswood having his second go in handicap company. Sam and I are with Yonafis up in trip who wasn’t ideally positioned in the Britannia. The yard won this last year with a subsequent Group 2 winner.
- Tom – Yonafis
- Sam – Yonafis
- Charlie – Knightswood (w/pl)
14:05 York – 1m4f Handicap
Small stakes all around here and three different selections in a trappy little race. Sam is perhaps the strongest of the lot with a filly who has likely been aimed at this given her connections.
- Tom – El Picador
- Sam – My Little Queens
- Charlie – Forza Orta
14:25 Newmarket – Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes
Lezoo for Charlie and Sam. She shapes up well on Sam’s speed figures and we know she likes the track. I’ll chance double figures about Queen Olly who had the race develop a little away from her at Ascot.
- Tom – Queen Olly
- Sam – Lezoo
- Charlie – Lezoo
14:40 York – Summer Stakes
This track should really play to Flotus’s strengths back against her own sex. Charlie likes Lowther winner Zain Claudette whilst Sam is taken with the price about Benefit in what he argues is a more open race than the market suggests.
- Tom – Flotus
- Sam – Benefit (w/pl)
- Charlie – Zain Claudette
15:00 Newmarket – 1m6f Handicap (43:00)
Strong case made by Charlie for Northumberland Plate 5th Summer’s Kight. Sam is keen on Candleford who blitzed a strong field at Ascot. It’s hard to see Trawlerman reverse that form but he had no chance from his low draw and race position that day and I’ll chance him at the prices.
- Tom – Trawlerman
- Sam – Candleford
- Charlie – Summer’s Knight
15:35 Newmarket – Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes
Probably silly to oppose Inspiral but a small lay interests at 1.25. If she’s slowly away and they head to the rail then there could be a point, without any pace on, that it’s not going ideally for her. I’ll have a go at likely leader Prosperous Voyage in the without market too. Sam thinks Primo Bacio’s form is second best and he’ll take her without the favourite.
- Tom – Small lay Inspiral / Prosperous Voyage w/o Inspiral
- Sam – Inspiral & Primo Bacio w/o fav
- Charlie – Inspiral
Any Other Friday Bets
- Tom – First Officer (14:50 Ascot)
- Sam – Nizaaka (16:10 Newmarket)
- Charlie – Counsel (17:45 Ascot)
Best Friday Lays
- Tom – Small lay Inspiral (15:35 Newmarket)
- Sam – Lay Mawj – max 3.15 (14:25 Newmarket)
- Charlie – No lay
Best Friday Bets
- Tom – Prosperous Voyage w/o Inspiral (15:35 Newmarket)
- Sam – Yonafis (13:50 Newmarket)
- Charlie – Lezoo (14:25 Newmarket)
Best of luck!
