Tom Stanley is here to summarise the best podcast bets from Adele Mulrennan, Declan Rix and Charlie Poste covering Sandown and Haydock.
The feature is the Coral-Eclipse and it’s a typically fascinating renewal but no doubt we are missing some Ballydoyle representatives, a point Declan makes on the pod.
That’s where we finish up so scroll down if you want thoughts on that. We start at Sandown with the Charge.
Our 🐎 Pod is now LIVE on all platforms 🎙️@acmulrennan @HawkWing2002 & @CharliePoste join host @_tomstanley_ to preview the best of tomorrow's action from Sandown & Haydock 🙌

13:50 Sandown – The Charge (5f)
Both Charlie and Adele have been impressed with Mitbaahy and like him again here. He’s drawn against the rail and that’s not necessarily the good thing it used to be, not that it’s a negative per se. Rixy wants to chance Equilateral in the win market only. He’s unpredictable but more than capable at this level.
- Adele – Mitbaahy
- Rixy – Equilateral
- Charlie – Mitbaahy
14:05 Haydock – The Bet 365 Handicap Stakes (1m 6f)
Rixy and Charlie are with Marco Botti’s Giavelotto who should have this run to suit and has the hood on for the first time. Two shouts for Adele with last time out Sandown winner Duty Bound and impressive Goodwood scorer Double Cherry.
- Adele – Duty Bound / Double Cherry
- Rixy – Giavellotto
- Charlie – Giavellotto
14:25 Sandown – The Challenge (1m)
Two shouts for Checkandchallenge who is dropping in grade from the Guineas. He looked a very promising animal prior to that run and Adele and Rixy think he’s worth another go. Charlie’s selection is a little more exposed but in form and a fair price here.
- Adele – Checkandchallenge
- Rixy – Checkandchallenge
- Charlie – Flying High (w/p)
14:40 Haydock – The Lancashire Oaks (1m 4f)
Confidence about Eshaada from Rixy and Adele. She may have needed her reappearance run and is a top-level winner from last year. Charlie likes likely favourite Free Wind who looks very progressive and he argues the one to beat on seasonal debut.
- Adele – Eshaada
- Rixy – Eshaada & Eshaada w/o Free Wind
- Charlie – Free Wind

15:00 Sandown – The Distaff (1m)
Adele thinks Heredia is worthy of support for this step up in Grade. She won like a Group filly at Ascot and should confirm the promise. Charlie is taking a chance with Queen Aminatu who he suggests is interesting given connections are willing to chance her in this company.
- Adele – Heredia
- Rixy – No bet
- Charlie – Queen Aminatu (w/p)
15:15 Haydock – The Old Newton Cup Handicap Stakes (1m 4f)
Two for Adele with Get Shirty and a big price about the Johnston’s Enfranchise. Charlie is with second in the betting Liverpool Knight given that the favourite is short enough for him. Rixy thinks this is simple enough and the classy Gaassee should continue his progress.
- Adele – Get Shirty / Enfranchise small place bet
- Rixy – Gaassee
- Charlie – Liverpool Knight
15:35 Sandown – Coral-Eclipse (1m 2f)
The pace gets a good bit of focus here and the consensus is it will be left to Alenquer to go forward. Rixy and Charlie are with Bay Bridge who should go slightly better than Ascot when he was out of his ground. Rixy also makes a case for Mishfiff if the market speaks in his favour. Adele has been looking forward to seeing Native Trail up in trip and is sticking with him, whilst laying the favourite Vadeni.
- Adele – Native Trail
- Rixy – Bay Bridge – Also interested in Mishriff if market speaks in his favour. Happy to back him 5.0
- Charlie – Bay Bridge
Any Other Bets
- Adele – Titan Rock place (16:25 Haydock)
Best Lays
- Adele – Lay Vadeni (15:35 Sandown)
- Rixy – Lay Native Trail two places (15:35 Sandown)
- Charlie – Lay Heredia at under 2.0 (15:00 Sandown)
Best Bets
- Adele – Checkandchallenge (14:25 Sandown)
- Rixy – Eshaada w/o Free Wind (14:40 Haydock)
- Charlie – Mitbaahy (13:50 Sandown)
Best of luck!
