Horse Racing Podcast Best Bets from Kempton and Warwick

Tom Stanley is back to bring you our podcast’s best Kempton and Warwick tips.

Two big field handicaps take centre stage this Saturday, one from Warwick and one from Kempton. Nine races previewed in total and in truth the supporting card isn’t all that inspiring.

Fairly typical early January racing – that bar the Pertemps qualifier which is shockingly uncompetitive. Why I’m not sure but only one of the declared field will fail to qualify for Cheltenham. Strange.

Alder Demain & Akers Edward Courage Cup (13:18 Warwick)

A low key start and Steve and I are with Brave Seasca for a team in form. He should be able to dominate, should like conditions and be tough to beat.

  • Tom – Brave Seasca
  • Steve – Brave Seasca
  • Deasy – No bet

2m4f Handicap Chase (13:32 Kempton)

I’m sitting this one out as it looks particularly tricky. Steve makes the case for Champagne Court who was a winner at Exeter last time whilst Deasy prefers the very progressive Kap Auteuil.

  • Tom – No bet
  • Steve – Champagne Court
  • Deasy – Kap Auteuil

Wigley Group Hampton Novices’ Chase (13:50 Warwick)

Only Deasy with enough conviction to put one up here in a race where the favourite is hard to look past. He’s certainly got plenty of experience. Deasy feels Mint Condition is a backable price against the hot-pot at 5.5 at the time of recording.

  • Tom – No bet
  • Steve – No bet
  • Deasy  Mint Condition

Silviniaco Conti Chase (14:05 Kempton)

Decent if not a high-class renewal and Steve and I think Mister Fisher has the pick of the form with his second to Frodon at the back end of last year. This is his trip. Deasy is with Rouge Vif on his second start for Paul Nicholls.

  • Tom –  Mister Fisher
  • Steve –  Mister Fisher
  • Deasy – Rouge Vif

Ballymore Leamington Novices’ Hurdle (14:25 Warwick)

Steve is pretty adamant the favourite is the one to beat for this step up in grade. I’m not giving up on Party Business just yet who looked set for second in Grade 1 company last time, albeit well beaten. Deasy also has him on-side with Gentleman At Arms.

  • Tom – Party Business
  • Steve – Surrey Quest
  • Deasy – Party Business / Gentleman At Arms

Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle (14:40 Kempton)

Deasy and I think Maries Rock is best bet material here after bolting up at the track last time. We’ve also got some at bigger prices in the book whilst Steve makes a very solid case for his sole selection Up For Parol.

  • Tom – Maries Rock / Press Your Luck
  • Steve – Up For Parol
  • Deasy – Maries Rock (win) / Up For Parol / Comanche Red (win/place)

Agetur Classic Chase (15:00 Warwick)

A couple of shouts for last year’s second who has had a better prep this time around. Deasy is mainly with Eclair Surf who he thinks should appreciate this kind of test and that’s Steve’s other selection. Great minds.

  • Tom – Achille / No Rematch
  • Steve  Achille / Éclair Surf (both w/p)
  • Deasy Eclair Surf / Paddleyourowncanoe (both w/p)

3m Handicap Chase (15:15 Kempton)

No firm opinions here in a trappy race but Steve feels Double Shuffle can’t go unbacked returning to his favourite track. I think Kitty’s Light is too well treated to avoid and Deasy is with an old friend in Mac Tottie.

  • Tom – Kittys Light
  • Steve Double Shuffle (w/p)
  • Deasy MacTottie (w/p)

Pertemps Handicap Hurdle Qualifier (15:35 Warwick)

I’m leaving this uncompetitive Pertemps Qualifier well alone. Steve wants a few quid on The Jam Man who hinted at a return to form at Navan last time. Deasy thinks Riggs has the most solid credentials and is just about the market leader at the time of recording.

  • Tom  No bet
  • Steve – The Jam Man
  • Deasy  Riggs

Best Bets

  • Tom – Maries Rock (14:40 Kempton)
  • Steve – Up For Parol (14:40 Kempton)
  • Deasy – Maries Rock (14:40 Kempton)

Best of luck!
