Russia To Qualify: 1.4

Hosts Russia are a mess and still haven’t recovered from their bottom-place finish at Euro 2016. A Journeyman manager, a negative formation and unavailable players all point towards a potential early exit. Defeats to Ivory Coast, Qatar and Costa Rica when odds-on favourites does not make for pretty reading. They’ll be without the retired Berezutski brothers, injured striker Alexander Kokorin and key defensive midfielder Igor Denisov following a falling out with the coach. One shining light is striker Fedor Smolov, who has 12 goals in 22 starts for Russia, scoring seven since Stanislav Cherchesov took over (28%). Heavy defeats for their club sides in European competition, gives some insight into the vulnerability of this side against teams with pace and movement

Best Bet from Group A

Lay Russia to qualify at 1.40. There’s every chance Russia could come unstuck in all three group games. Opposing them to qualify at a healthy price looks the best bet.
